Back to school update
School
It's the second week into the fall semester of my last year at Cal State Fullerton. Summer is already a pleasant distant memory and school is in full swing. I was dreading school before it started, but now I actually appreciate being in school for a change. I like having somewhat of a more predictable schedule with 3 days out of the week set aside just for school. I really enjoy being able to see my cousin and friends on campus. A lot more reading and work than past years, but of course that comes with being a senior.
Going out
Having a social life and going to school and working is going to be a major challenge for me in these next few months. I already anticipate giving up the social life since I will mostly be working weekends, homework, and making enough time to take care of myself (sleep, working out, chores/errands, etc.). I went out Tuesday night for Aldo's birthday and I was dying the next day. Do I regret going out? No because I had lots of fun. Did my body cry on the inside the next day? Yes, because I had 3 hours of sleep. I was falling asleep almost every other minute. Then when I got home after being out of the house for 10 hours just for clinical (including commute time), I knocked out until the next morning and I didn't even eat dinner! I'm already immune to coffee or caffeinated products. I was drinking coffee in the morning and it didn't even touch me.
Running
I ran the disneyland half marathon this past sunday and it was a lot of fun. Granted, I hit my "wall" by the 10th mile, but I managed to cross the finish line in good time. 2 hours and 26 minutes was my net time. It was a fun run. I got to see disneyland, which I haven't been to in ages. There were a lot of enthusiastic runners not to mention endless cheering squads everywhere (several high school cheerleading squads, radio stations, disney characters, disney staff), and of course family and friends of the runners. I also got to participate in the same run as some of my friends, which is always fun. We went to Lucille BBQ afterwards to eat and it was funny to observe how tired and sore everyone was. We were walking around like lolas and lolos. I already registered for my next half marathon, the pasadena half marathon. Jamie and Karina are going to participate in that with me. I definitely need to train more this time around. I will most likely start training for my first full marathon after I earn my bachelor's degree.
Concert going
I went to the Jack Johnson concert last friday. I love Jack Johnson. Even though I haven't heard his music for awhile now, I still remember and love his music. Kickback atmosphere, loved the music (of course), good food and drink (ate bbq & drank beer), and surrounded by friends. I miss going to concerts more, especially ones that are kick back like Erykah Badu and Jack Johnson.
Party girl
I was at my public health clinical orientation. They had this video advertising working for the Riverside County Public Health Department. A few seconds of the video had a clip of a clubbing scene simultaneously saying that working for the public health department was ideal for young and single nurses because they can make time to go out and live it up. It seemed like a random 10 seconds of video when you consider that most of the video had a lot of older and mature nurses in the video. When the clubbing scene popped up in the video, all my nursing friends glanced at me saying, "Ha, that's for Kristle." I've been officially been dubbed party girl haha. If that label suggests that I know how to have fun, then I humbly accept the title. :-)
I'm young, single, taking care of my business, and enjoying life. Life is good and I'm very grateful!
